Like anyone/everyone in the porn industry, I took to The Burning last night.

It didn't even take the opening credits to have me rolling in the figurative aisles. A fucking Miramax picture, "Written, Produced, and Created by Harvey Weinstein".

Jeebus.

This shit was hilarious. I admire the early work of Savini, but this was probably his weakest stuff. Seeing the giant flame-retardant sock flopping around on his head, as he was immolated in the prologue's stunt, made it both humorous and admirable. What a crazy bastard.

The same goes with the raft massacre, where the first mook to get the shears to the throat is obviously hiding behind his fake prosthetic neck. So awesome. So cheesy.

Tom had to start somewhere, and I admired the earnestness with which he approached the engineering of the kill-gags.

The cameos by several notable actors was just the icing on this LOLcake.

I'd love to see this at a midnight show sometime.

- Biography: Jimi Hendrix Vodoo Child; great doc on Jimi on BIO. Really neat, the narration was pretty good.

- Event Horizon: pretty decent, great gore. Sam Neill and Larry Fishburne were cool. Lt. Starck (Joely Richardson) needed to do a nude scene...and it would have been perfect. Otherwise I liked it.

The Warriors: Instaview has the original cut and the picture is fantastic. One of the great films of 70s. Made me consider my own gang of v-neck wearing toughs that do....something.

I'm Still Here - Self indulgent tripe.
Easy A - I enjoyed this film way more than I thought I would.
No One Knows about Persian Cats - Spinal Tap in the land of Mohammed.
Tehran without Permission - Imagine Persepolis as a documentary.
The Town - Ben Affleck needs to stop acting, but keep directing. His acting drug down what would've been an Oscar-caliber film.

We never got an advanced screening. We got that awful Joaquin Phoenix movie, but not the British flick.
