Watched Rio Bravo over the weekend. A simple story line: John Wayne's a sheriff with a murdering ass hat locked up in jail. This ass hat has a brother that wants him out, and is using their gang to try and get him out. But the performances of John Wayne, Dean Martin, and Angie Dickinson (Ricky Nelson was ok, just not on par with the others) elevated the film to excellency. Wayne was <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><meta name="ProgId" content="Word.Document"><meta name="Generator" content="Microsoft Word 11"><meta name="Originator" content="Microsoft Word 11"><link rel="File-List" href="file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5Caris%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsoht ml1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml"><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <wontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <woNotOptimizeForBrowser/> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} p.MsoPlainText, li.MsoPlainText, div.MsoPlainText {margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Courier New"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} span.EmailStyle15 {mso-style-typeersonal; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-ansi-font-size:10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt; font-family:Arial; mso-ascii-font-family:Arial; mso-hansi-font-family:Arial; mso-bidi-font-family:Arial; color:windowtext;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 77.95pt 1.0in 77.95pt; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]-->particualry fantastic, as was the little mexican sidekick, played by Pedro Gonzalez Gonzalez.
So I'd say it's a great western, but it probably won't convert any of you non-western lovers.
I always did want to know how in the fuck the 3 seashells were supposed to work.
Plus, one of the few movies that I can stand Rob Schnieder in. Discuss.
Stallone explained the three-seashell thing in an AICN interview a year or two ago. It was part of a multi-part interview they ran. It might have been around when the initial RAMBO push was happening.
So every weekend Ari begs and begs for me to watch one of the 500 DVD's we own that we HAVEN'T watched yet....
I requested something with humor for a change
We watched This is Spinal-Tap---Ari has seen this before but I have not.
WOW! Great movie....think I want to see it again though.....I tend to not get everything the first time...especially when they have bloody accents. I love the POD scene....
And the lyrics...
Volume 11..!!!
"Uh, whose car is that out front?"
"Mine. 1970 Pontiac Firebird. The car I've always wanted and now I have it. I rule!"
