Polanksi - We have not. We actually read about it after watching Throne of Blood. We were having a discussion on if we want to watch it or not...but Sarah barely can stomach Rosemary's Baby anymore and it's her favorite film of all time.
It’s probably my favorite adaptation of the play to date and the morbid timeline it was made in and by whom is a wellspring for discussion (where that discussion usually leads is the same general direction). But I understand people not wanting to open that short Polish man-shaped door.

        • as per Matt's recommendation we checked out The Vault on Netflix. Dug it a bunch even though it felt like an unlicensed Uncharted movie. Bring on that sequel.

                  • Finally checked out The Hunt for Red October in 4k this weekend. One of those flicks that I remember from the red VHS back in the day but never actually watched it.

Finally remedied that and thoroughly enjoyed it. Dug the little editing trick to switch from Russian to English voices in the beginning. Skinny Baldwin was a good Jack Ryan in so much that he was academic and not just a James Bond dude.

This, Wrath of Khan and Master and Commander need to be a triple bill.

                    • We watched Goodfellas last night. Sarah had never seen it, and it had been a long time for me. She wanted to watch Casino because she just had in her mind that she would enjoy Casino more based on what she knew about the two movies. At the end of Goodfellas she said she liked it but that the pacing was pretty slow once they hit prison, and she wishes they cut 30 minutes out. I had to laugh and told her if that's her Goodfellas opinion then I cannot wait to watch Casino, because I always felt like Casino was walking through a swamp compared to Goodfellas. Just slow as heeeeeeell. But it's probably been 15 years since I've watched it, so guess I need to get a copy of it.

I debated talking about this on the video show, but here's where they break down.

Goodfellas is primarily Henry's story and a singular focus moves it along.

Casino has Stone, Pesci and DeNiro almost sharing equal narrative focus and Scorsese rushes to get them all done in under 3 hours. The result is a mess, because you still have to ground it back in Las Vegas. But, Casino has a brief role for Joe Bob Briggs.

I’m at a loss, sir. All the stuff you’ve seen and you had never seen this? I’m glad you fixed that. This is one of my childhood favorites and it still(mostly) holds up.

                          • I'm glad I never watched that as a kid. I wouldn't have appreciated the slow burn. It's SO SLOW but incredibly well done.

                            • I wish that Alec Baldwin had done more Jack Ryan films. He was perfect for the role.

Exactly what I said above. This version of Jack Ryan was the most interesting version IMO.
