I understand the significance of Wonder Woman's success as a female directed/female-starring capeshit film, but I also think it's been extremely overrated in its watchability.
That is exactly why it's gotten such a free pass. And why revisionist history will eat it alive.

When viewing it through the lens of it being an unconscious confessional of sorts for Aronofsky it is a mix of sad and hilarious, at least in so much as he seems too in love with his own voice to realize he's doing it at all.
Lawrence is one in a line of new doe-eyed hopefuls to be used and abused for the director's own ludicrous vision. And he'll just keep repeating the same tired shit (muddled metaphors, overwrought symbolism in tow) through this new vessel until the next one comes along to listen to his bullshit.
