What Emmanuelle Movie Did You Just Watch?

The final fight was less due to the darkness of it and more to do with the shoddy resolution plus what looked like unfinished effects.

I mean look at that part where Gal Gadot suddenly explodes and poops light, shouting "NOOOOO" like they spliced in DBZ frames and traced over them. It immediately recalled that moment in New Hope's recut garbage where Han digitally steps over Jabba's tail. Wack shit.

Just jarring and laughable at every turn. Up until then, it had something a little bit different with what the lesson the hero was supposed to learn. Then it cut corners visually and narratively, resulting in some massive disapproving head shakin'.

Jenkins overuse of speed ramping was fucking distracting now that you mention it. It was so overused on Paradise Island that it took away from some awesomeness.

Thought the same thing. Guess that makes us sexist for not 100% praising the direction, huh?

Seriously the revisionist reviews are going to be brutal on the same level as Raimi's Spider-Man. I mean the third act literally has the villain yell, "JOIN MEEEEEEEEE, DIANA!" with CG-heavy destruction porn. Next to none of the reviews even acknowledged how bad (and generic) it was.

But to be fair considering how God-awful Gadot was in Batman vs Superman (I stand by what I said last March), she managed to do a 180 thanks to Jenkins surrounding her with a solid supporting cast to elevate her performance.

Playing as the red-headed step-cousin at Blumhouse to Get Out and Split, this might be my favorite genre film this year, so far. Deliciously nasty and lean. An in-and-out 90 minute running length that makes me wish this could be a series every 2-3 years. Different environment (could easily imagine a sequel set within a Wal-Mart like department store), director and cast.
