As much as I don't care about awards and what not, it's a shame Leo didn't win for this one. Scorcese really gets some great performances out of him.

He's on an incredible streak right now and has been for the best part of a decade, but we all love a comeback and that's why Matt had to take it this year.

Leo will get his. I just hope it's for a deserving performance (he's already given 3 or 4 for my money) and not a consolation prize.

I had a LOT of problems with taking this guy as a badass as he look like an angry teen. It's like he started looking like man in the last 5 years. I mean, he was ok, in The Departed, but stuff like Shutter island and Gangs of New York were so shit that I overlooked him.

I still really like American Hustle - I think the hype has killed it for a lot of people. If the performances had been nominated, but it was passed over for the Best Director/Picture nods, I think public opinion might be a bit fairer on it. It's a damn entertaining film with uniformly excellent performances - that should not be sniffed at. It just isn't particularly deep or original. I'm still looking forward to picking it up on blu when it comes out over here.

Captain America: Winter Soldier.

I'll keep the gushing to a minimum, but as a Cap fanboy, and one for the Brubaker run especially, this was as faithful an adaptation as I could hope for of that sort of Cap story (badass spy stories) and it lays the groundwork for a fucking awesome third installment.

This was surprisingly violent for a PG13 film but man it flew by like nothing.

THE HEAT

Better/funnier than I expected, but still a trivial movie that you forget about once it's done. Melissa McCarthy is really fucking funny in it, though.

LADYHAWKE

Better/worse than I remembered. Broderick does some really bad acting in this, and it kinda kills the film in many ways. Also, being a PG movie, the fight scenes are pretty damned pathetic. It's still a good story, though.
