Some real hits and a big miss recently

IRON MAN 3- so good. Some decent turns in the story and great performances by Downey and Kingsley. I wish they had explored the panic attacks a bit more but it IS a summer superhero movie. I want to know what happened to Shane Black during Christmas when he was a child.

STOKER- creepy. Mostly because of Ozymandias. I was surprised to learn Prison Break wrote the film. I wonder if there have been debates on the cause of the reveal at the end.

MOVIE 43- well, there's an hour and a half of my life I'll never get back. But, hey, Halle Berry smashes her boob in guacamole! :-/

It tried for something different, but was just too much of a hodge podge of ideas that it lost some of its impact by the massive shifts in the story.

It's whatever you want it to mean. Maybe there is something after this, maybe nothing at all. Knowing fuck all about the old bat, her whole belief system could be just as insane or as rational as you like it to be. I took the implication of it all as there is nothing, no point to the grand stupid fucking endeavor her group was a part of, and instead of shattering everyone's dreams she checked out like a punk.

And also, Martin,

the "living" ecorché became laughable. The cult part and their whole agenda was also ludicrous, but much more interesting than seeing more unnecessary shock crap. I'd rather spend a movie with the madam who throated the bullet at the end. Much like the same attention to such an activity or grimness in any of the Hellraiser films, on its face it's just silly and immediately ruins whatever tension or unease had been built beforehand.

Ceej and I watched Zero Charisma last night.

Not too bad. Not sure if it's just us or not, but the "cool nerd" was totally Chris Hardwick and the like and it shows why we just can't stand fucks like that. Which was weird as The Nerdist was involved in this. The guy who played Scott was pretty fucking great. The whole movie felt pretty fucking real. Ceej couldn't stop laughing during some of the gaming parts specifically because he said Scott reminded him of his GM at his games. The rest of the cast was pretty great as well. Especially Scott's "best friend".

It's on demand and totally worth it. I wish it would have fully committed to where it was heading (or at least where we thought it was heading) but I did enjoy the ending we got.

I take this left turn as the one in Sunshine, except I liked that one rather well. Wether it sits well with you or not, that's your call, but while I would have wanted to spend more time in that setting, i'll take what we got.

If you haven't seen À l'intérieur, prepare to laugh.

UPSIDE DOWN- sure it looks cool but that wears off fast. Boring story, boring leads. Only watched it all the way throughout because I'm in a hotel room hating life right now.
