It still amazes me in nothing but positive ways, and the cameos are so fantastic that it is impossible to replicate a scenario such as Orson Welles getting his secretary to fetch the "standard rich and famous contract" for a frog with a dream to make it big.
Also, big ups to my man Chuck Durning. His is the sort of farcical villain that all should be measured by.
So Masters of the Universe kinda works if you think of it as a sequel to the cartoon that takes 10-15 years later. Prince Adam is now all grown up, thus no more need for transformation. Poor Battle Cat is dead and Skeletor has finally conquered Eternia.
Yeah, Sarah told me I was way over thinking it too.
I enjoy Our Man Flint, but I'm just talking about Bond being Bond and not being Bourne which is what he has been since Craig took over.
Not really.
He still retains a lot of what makes the character iconic.
Bourne is a humorless dude with a persecution complex that snaps and starts breaking people apart like he's constantly searching for Bobby Lupo's killer in the pool hall of life.
Bond is still very much a suave dude who bleeds for queen and country. Who gives a shit if he doesn't need spy gear to get the job done, that his wits and hands (maybe some bullets too) can do the job just as well (PUT YOUR HAND DOWN, MR. HUGHES)? Bond is a company man. He will always be a company man.

I fully get what you are saying. I don't disagree with it being correct but I do disagree that gadgets don't make Bond, well, Bond. Gadgets have been in every freaking Bond movie and they were usually all bad ass. But in Craig's flicks they just seem to be one or two gadgets that aren't all crazy cool in my opinion and instead they turned Bond into more of a Bourne like character (but with his trademark suaveness).
It just makes me sad when I watch a Bond film and there is not one gadget in the movie that makes me say: "Wow, that's pretty fucking badass.."
IT's a big reason why I didn't like Casino or Quantum either. THey are decent flicks (well Casino is) but I like my Bond all GO GO GADGET AWESOMENESS and less GO GO PUNCH TO THE NECK INSTEAD

It was actually a half hearted attempt at doing Jack Kirby's New Gods that got turned into a Masters of the Universe movie.
