All this discussion of 3D had me wondering: why hasn't there been a 3D porn revolution? One can now view 3D in the privacy of one's home (although I confess I haven't had the pleasure and can't assess its quality). And EVRY advance in technology eventually gets turned toward porn. So why hasn't this one? It'd seem to be the next logical step, right before fembots.

It kind of is happening, but bear in mind 1) not many people have the access to decent 3D tech at home and 2) the porn industry's on it ass thanks to the internet, so there isn't a whole lot of investment compared to 15-20 years ago.I experienced an invasion of my mind by a transcendentally rational mind, as if I had been insane all my life and suddenly I had become sane.

THe HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY
I liked it. It needs an edit in the first two hours to get things moving, but it's not a crisis. Once they get past Rivendell, the film flies on all cylinders and is grand entertainment.
I saw it in Imax 3d at normal framerate. This was a great way to see it and I have no complaints. I may go see it again at HFR to compare, but it's not vital. The effects are fantastic and the 3d is very solid.
We had the long preview for STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS before the show started. It went over like gangbusters. Can't wait.Originally posted by MartinWho the fuck is Kellan Lutz?Originally posted by gravediggerBasically what I'm saying is that, based on what I've watched so far, we should all listen to Matt more often.Originally posted by MartinAnd who the FUCK is Peaches Geldof?

Also, saw Sightseers tonight, Ben Wheatley's new joint. It's not as 'kick you in the gut' fresh as Kill List, but it's incredibly funny whilst being horribly violent. The man's got on interesting voice for sure. Alice Lowe and Steve Oram (who both wrote and star) are truly wonderful. Could well sneak on to my favourite of the year list - certainly one of the funnier films I've seen.I experienced an invasion of my mind by a transcendentally rational mind, as if I had been insane all my life and suddenly I had become sane.

The Ref
Although all the principles are great, the two most important names involved in this are Richard LaGravanese and Ted Demme. The way the dynamics play out is brilliant, especially once all the house guests have arrived - by that time the threat is established, the basic relationship between the 3 leads is established and into that they throw the social etiquette of frosty relatives visiting. The writing is sharp throughout, but in that final third there are some glorious zingers - Lloyd standing up to his mother is choice, but I personally loved the ruse of Gus being their marriage counselor:
Rose: Wong? You're name is Wong?
Gus: Yeah, well my mother was Irish.
Rose: And your father?
Gus: Wasn't.
Thoroughly entertaining. I can see why this is a Christmas comfort for you and the wife, Matt. It's shocking that I've never seen this played on British TV, especially since Spacey became successful and it's a sin that this never even saw the inside of a cinema over here.I experienced an invasion of my mind by a transcendentally rational mind, as if I had been insane all my life and suddenly I had become sane.

Ted.
Not bad but not great. The Flash Gordon stuff was pretty funny. This honestly felt like a live action Family Guy-lite movie. Marky Mark was decent and I love it when he does comedy. The fight scene however, had me fucking rolling.
AntiTrust.
Hackers this isn't. Tim Robbins does an ok job of playing Evil Bill Gates, but this movie was too serious for it's own good. Hackers gets a pass because it's silly and fun throughout, this doesn't b ecause it wants to be something it's not."Looking like Nic Cage dressed in Kurt Cobain's closet. I mean that as a compliment" - BillyG

SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK.
This was great. Everyone does excellent work delivering on a really solid script. It was particulary good to be engaged in a Robert De Niro performance again.

I want to have Jennifer Lawrence's babies. Also Deniro engaging is a nice change of pace. Genuinely interested in that flick. How's Cooper in it?"Fuck Rob. Also, he has a podcast called Podcaust. Edgy Holocaust humor lulz indeed." - The Faraci
