Yep, hideous in all but it's pre-cred sequence. I caught the now infamous para-surf sequence on TV last year and was shocked at how completely incoherent, illogical and downright ugly that bit is.

Yeah, this is the goods. One of the few Bond films that can genuinely be called 'exhilirating'. It's also one of the few that actually provides Bond with an arc over the course of the film, which is refreshing. The wife loved it too (she hadn't seen it since 2006).

I came in expecting terrible things but ended up really getting into it. I think the editing with all stationary cameras and all of the aging process was pretty well done. The reveal was just a small part of what it has to offer.Comment

The Master
Hypnotic. That's the best word I can think of to describe it. It's perhaps 10-20 minutes too long and I'm not sure if I grasped what Anderson was saying with the final 20 minutes (there was a point I thought it was going to end that would have been satisfying, but it kept going for at least another quarter hour), but if Mihai Malaimare doesn't get an Oscar for the cinematography, they may as well abandon the category. Obviously, this being a PT Anderson film, the characters are all rich and the actors performing them uniformly great, but Phoenix has simply never been anywhere near this level of amazing. The Bay
We really dug it. Being a found footage film (directed by Barry Levinson, wat?) will turn off many viewers, but we really enjoyed it. Being based on actual creatures definitely helped the "Fuckkkk I hope this never really happens" vibe it had going with it, and the gore effects were really well done. Brave
Fantastic. I'm not sure it's top 3 Pixar (Incredibles, Ratatouille and Nemo for me), but it's a top 5 along with Up and Monster Inc. Not only gorgeous (on Blu), but the deceptively simple story hides a deadly effectiveness. Specifically a mother-daughter bond, something less often exposed on celluloid.
