Almost forgot...The wife and I watched the first half of 'Lawrence of Arabia' last night. She's never seen it before (shocking, I know), so it was a lot of fun to watch it with her. She's anxious to finish it off tonight.

Remedy that oversight. It's simply amazing, and the character of Lawrence is one of the most interesting characters that you'll ever see onscreen.

It's one of those hugely influential classics that I'm just hesitant to view, fearing I might not like it for whatever stupid and unfounded reason.

There has to be a disorder associated with this problem.

I understand and respect that 'disorder'. I suffer from it occasionally as well, usually for no good reason that I can identify.

Be assured, 'Lawrence of Arabia' really is THAT GOOD. Set aside 4 hours some night and watch it. You'll never regret it.

Watched part of Arabia last night as well. I also have never seen it. It's among MANY classic DVD's I would always pick up...then not buy every week during my old DVD shop pilgrimage.

Yep, good old TCM. They showed it widescreen with zero interruptions. I discovered it was on about a half hour into it and flipped over to it. It was a good entry point for my wife, as Lawrence was just setting out across the desert with his guide; bringing her up to speed on the story wasn't an issue at all. She was mesmerized right away, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it through her virgin eyes.

I'm tempted to see if it's on blu-ray and pick it up. I'd have to think that it would look simply stunning in HD.

Martin: 1 and 2 are amazing films, worthy of all of the acclaim that they've received. 3 is one of the best unintentional comedies that you've ever seen; it's almost 'Wicker Man' remake laughable. The final 20 minutes of the film are simply hysterical. Al Pacino tries to compensate for Sofia Coppola's terrible acting by OVERacting, and the results are quite simply...stunning.

Yeah Matt, I know what to expect with the 3 movies. It's jsut that I never took the time...

I've said it before, but man...'Godfather 3' was one of the few times where I've seen an audience actually laugh AT a film. By the time of the epilogue where Michael takes a header into the ground, the audience was in tears. Funny stuff.
