    You brought two too many.

LOVE that opening sequence. And, it must be said, Henry Fonda makes Frank into one of the most iconic bad guys that you'll ever see in all of cinema.

Can't go wrong with The Searchers. Then again, I love me a John Ford Western.

Huge, huge fan of the genre. Too many favorites to name, but if Clint Eastwood's in it, I'm watching it. My all-time favorites are easier (in no particular order):
                    The Outlaw Josey Wales (DERP!)
Tombstone (kicks the shit out of Costner's Wyatt Earp)
                    Silverado
                    Hondo
                    Django
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
Once Upon a Time in the West
                    Magnificent Seven
                    A Fistful of Dollars

And if you want something truly weird, check out El Topo.

I grew up watching shows like the Lone Ranger, Have Gun Will Travel, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Rifleman, and spent many an afternoon over my grandparents watching edited versions of spaghetti westerns, Eastwood films, the glory that is John Wayne, Bronson, Ford, etc. Great times there, plus my grandfather was a huge fan of Zane Grey books (before he passed I was able to introduce him to Charlier and Moebius' Blueberry Saga, so I kind of got him into graphic novels that way).

He may have written Bubba Ho-Tep (re Landsdale), but L'Amour is *the* great American Western author.

I find the westerns that take place at the turn of the 20th century the most facinating. That's at the point that any association with the "Old West" is being washed away with new technology.

And I don't mean just the railroad. I'm talking telephones and automobiles.
