"Avatar" was the Blu-Ray release that officially established the 1:1 ratio for sales. It took 2 fewer months for this to happen for Blu-Ray than it did for DVD.


Suck on that digital downloads.

Across the board now.

For every DVD sold, a Blu-Ray is being sold. The general market share is at a 50/50 split.


That's the first indicator of wide adoption and it allows for massive price drops. Lower manufacturing rates and quicker title updates.

Criterion releasing Blu-rays for The Thin Red Line and Seven Samurai. Both will be double dip purchases for me.

Hell yes on 'The Seven Samurai'. Personally, I didn't care for 'The Thin Red Line'. It was extremely beautiful, but I just didn't connect with it.
