    Blu Rays: the MUST HAVES

    OK, I need a good starting point on some MUST HAVE blu rays to show off my new home theater. I already bought 'The Dark Knight' and 'Inglourious Basterds', and I plan on getting the Pixar films already, so I need to know what else to get that has a real WOW HOLY SHIT THAT LOOKS AWESOME factor.

    I will not buy 'Speed Racer' or 'The Fifth Element', so don't even bring 'em up.

          You really should rent Speed Racer at least to see it in HD. It may not change your mind, but it's something spectacular to see.

            Glad to hear that 'Dark City' is good. I love that movie, and I've held off on getting the director's cut for some reason. I'm adding the others to the LIST OF LISTS, so thanks.

              When you watch Wrath of Kahn in HD your head will explode. Looks so fucking good. Same with First Blood. I was amazed at FB especially since I had only ever seen it on an old VHS copy.

                I've heard good things about all of the Star Trek DVDs. It's too bad that I missed out on the Black Friday deals for them, though. Hell, almost EVERYTHING is up to full price again. Sucks.

                    Lost: Seasons 1-5
                    Fight Club (Picture Quality is strong, but the Audio is one of the best struck for a Blu-Ray)
                    Star Trek (the best looking BR of 2009)
                    Monsters, Inc and the Rest of the Pixar Catalog (pick up the Short Films BR as well)
                    Band of Brothers
                    North by Northwest (just to shut up any idiot that says older films don't look as good on BR)

                          Anyone see BSG on blu yet? Watched it a regular version of it last night. Looked rad. Can't imagine the blu.

                              Great input, everyone. Thank you. I know that my wife wants the Pixar films, 'Iron Man', and 'Star Trek' for sure (she loves all of them), so those will probably be my next purchases.

                              The sound system that we got fucking ROCKS, by the way. I already own Fight Club on DVD, but I may splurge for the blu ray if the sound on it is really worth it.
