Why do you like the movie in a non-emotionally stimulated way? What makes you connect to it and hoist it up?
But I would argue that the people making that argument are stimulated in some way maybe not emotionally but in some way. They like it because it resonates for some reason.

And I've never seen 'Thunderheart', by the way. I've actually heard decent things about it.
You should check it out. Not "great" but certainly good in my book.

But you're right, it's hard to talk about the flick with out mentioning any emotional connection to it. But I'm also not going to tell you that you're wrong in saying it's a shitty fucking movie. But how can we discuss it either way? You hate it, I like it.
This, in a nutshell.
"Fuck Rob. Also, he has a podcast called Podcaust. Edgy Holocaust humor lulz indeed." - The Faraci
I agree in that it can be a cop out. In that it justifies just liking any pile of shit out there. But there are times when it is in fact legitimate to say such things. Because you have no other way of justifying it.
Like I said, this really can come into play with music.
"Everything is amazing right now and no one is happy" - Louis C.K.
How about guilty HATRED, then: a picture that is critically lauded and everyone else loves, but you can't stand it for some reason. If those can exist, cannot a guilty PLEASURE exist as well?

Basically what I'm saying is that, based on what I've watched so far, we should all listen to Matt more often.
