Star Trek The Motion Picture is one of the worse films ever made. Yet, it has one of the best musical scores of the 1970s.

I have a new appreciation for TMP after watching the director's cut. Still a little long and slow, but it had a good old sci-fi story. And the ship looked fantastic.

        THIS.

I was so fucking bored by it. It's space porn. Which is why I was blown away at how much I dug Khan.

Yeah, sorry for the derail too. III is worthy of dissection. A great flick is almost there. IV still holds up (sorry Nathan) and I can't for the life of me figure out why people discuss V. The flick doesn't exist.

V was a rushed mess, where the studio gave Shatner too much power. Then, they tried to reel him in during Post. Not just Post, but a month into Post.

It's a little hard to take control 3 months before theatrical release.

Not only that but it ties Star Trek into our history (more or less and much better than anything TOS tried to do - which by the way I am not knocking TOS). LOVE the film.

If you would've waited for September, Paramount will be releasing the movies as standalone BR releases. It's going to tie in with Generations through Nemesis hitting Blu-Ray.

Oh I didn't buy any of them. But if 3 and 4 are decent, than 50 for all 3 is cheaper than buying them separate.

4 was great when it was released and still has some ok moments. It is just very dated.

Also, it got a pity Oscar nom for its awful score.

Wow. I didn't remember that. TMP score should've gotten the nod for sure.

TNG got me into Star Trek but I find myself enjoying the original stuff much more these days. I do love me some Borg though.

Saw every episode. Most have not held up well at all. Some eps are fantastic still though. Best of Both Worlds I&II, Data's Day I think it was called. Some good morality play stuff. Can't remember any more just now.
