Amazon just announced they are making a series based on The Deep. Awesome. I dug the shit outta it.

Finished White Noise. Ehhhhh. I couldn't tell you what it was exactly about except I guess maybe consumerism and how people fear death and deal with it in different ways? I dunno. I hope the movie is better because the trailer is what got me to read it.

Early scene has the XO talking to a crewmate and then she sees herself from a few minutes into the future walking around the bridge. Tells the crewmate, he fixes the trajectory of the ship, future self disappears, XO then ends up doing/saying the exact same she shit she just her future self doing. That's what hooked me. Neat.

Didn't even finish the first story but that imagery he used for "buttonboy" got to me.
Still going through these short stories in 20th Century Ghosts and man, nothing is scary (except that first story for whatever reason...) but man these stories bum me the fuck out. There is one involving a kid and his superhero costume that could be a really interesting jumping off point for a short film if they keep the ending as is and/or expand on it, and then this other one revolving around 2 people who were extras in zombie makeup on Romero's Dawn of the Dead that really just ended on a totally depressing note and cut me to the core. I swear, dealing with the shit going on in my life makes these stories hit so much fucking harder. I can totally see most people thinking I'm silly but I ended up tearing up again on the one from last night right before bed. Stupid Joe Hill.

It's pretty fun so far! I'm digging the worldbuilding stuff and the weird time distortion shit is cool.

I was mostly kidding. Just saw some reviews on good reads reviews saying all the women exist solely as love interests, racist undertones with species of aliens or some shit, etcetera....I always like to read the worst reviews first.

The more I think of it, the more I think I didn’t miss it. It was recommended to me by friends who HATES the Scott Cards, Ringo and all that are misogynistic or racist/homophobes fucks.

Gonna check out The Acid King (non-fiction) as I heard good things about it as well
Well if it’s racist and misogynist I clearly missed it, so did all people who recommended it.

    Its really a fun one.

Finished The Troop. Recommend it for a fun and fucking disgusting horror read. Like I said on FB, this needs to be a mini series or a lower budget (with all going to practical FX) movie.

It was gross and entertaining the whole way through. Fucking LOVED the shit between chapters with medical notes, deposition transcripts, etc... all filling in backstory and future events. That poor chimp....

Need another book to read. I may check out those recommendations from you Martin
Check the Bobiverse series. Its fucking fun and funny. Trust me.

also, Adrian Tchaikovsky is amazing. The Children of Time is a book about artificially evolved spiders on an alien planet. The heroes are spiders.
I grabbed another book by the guy who wrote The Troop about a disease called the "gots" that starts off as people forgetting things like normal and then ends up with people's bodily functions forgetting how to keep them alive. Sounded neat.

I tried a snippet of some book called The Last Watch (the Divide series) as I feel like someone recommended that but am not sure. The first half of the free intro I read seemed cool.

The Troop is so much pulpy horror fun. Shit gets GROSS and then a
      Spoiler: mild spoilers
fucking budding serial killer is introduced
which is adding to the ridiculousness of everything.

Read another short story in Joe Hill's 20th Century Ghost called Abraham's Boys that was fantastic. Cant' really say much without spoiling it but I'm really enjoying these stories so far. Highly recommended.

The Troop is pretty sweet so far. It seems to be sort of heading into Resident Evil territory but without zombies. The kids all seem pretty believable and I guarantee at least 2 of these fuckers will die a terrible death.

I dig that between certain chapters are "field notes" or "research documentation" that adds to the backstory. So far it's fun.
