i've been hyping up y: the last man for awhile now. the premise is great even tough it's been done, e.g. a boy and his dog. if you can, check it out. the writing is amazing and characters are great. it's one of my favorite comic series.
the movie is being scripted right now and will start filming fall of this year. and it's rumored that labeouf will play yorrick.
I second Nerdious' endorsement of the audiobook version of World War Z.
Even the more dry stories are given a boost with the accompanying narration.
Favorite story? The merc at the reality show house. Always thought of Henry Rollins when I heard it.
Listen to it if you can, it is actually really good.
Recommendation:
Punisher: The End. Back when Marvel was pushing these sort-of "What-If" stories, this was the one that hit it out of the park for me. It was dark, brutal, and unforgiving. The world is a hellhole of a warzone and the Punisher is in prison. That is until he is released, since the world is coming to an end very soon (nuclear war imminent). He goes on his last mission to punish the last bastion of earthly douchebags.
Definitely check it out if you haven't. The art by Richard Corben is amazing, as is the story itself. Just a great little one-shot.
