Eh, I'd still try the new soundcard VS replacing the whole compy at this point. Check your Windows updates too, there may be some non-critical motherboard-related updates waiting to be installed. I had that happen with my super 1GB video card of video cardliness, and all of my issues vanished once I noticed that Windows Update won't even really notify you if there are non-critical things to be installed. because video? Who gives a shit about that guy?

    • I don't have a question. It's just whenever I read the name of this thread it makes me think Sam Kinison in Back to School.

      • Didn't know where else to post this. iTunes has taken a big shit and won't let me access the store. It's been like this since before Thanksgiving, but Nathan and I just assumed it was due to heavy traffic because of the holidays. It's now March and I still get this message:

"iTunes cannot connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection has timed out. Make sure your network setting are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."

The network is fine. We've checked, re-checked and reset the damn thing a few times. iTunes is the problem. So what can I do? Re-download it? HELP!

ETA: I would prefer actual help on this, not snark. Thanks! (Sorry, Howard and Ed)

I would try downloading the newest version just to see if that will take care of it. If not then I'll dig some more to help.

          • Nope. It works under Nathan's profile, though. I downloaded it again, it gave me the option to replace the existing 'damaged' copy and came up with "Success!". Still won't work. Do I need to save my music somewhere and completely delete it and re-install?

You may want to follow this support link as they have a literal shit ton of variables that you might know and can follow better than I. If that doesn't help then I'm not sure where else to go.

Seems like if it's working on Nathan's profile but not on yours that there must be something on yours that's causing the issue. Like a pop up blocker or something of that nature. Seems strange that it works on his but not yours when previously it WAS working.

                • Less help, more a question for those of you that do more IT based shit for a living.

I am not your average person when it comes to tech and computers. I'm no programmer, but I know plenty more about the tech I am using, and how to keep myself safe from bad shit on the internet. My PC at home never gets any kind of malware, or viruses, nothing like that.

But my PC here at work? The one that is locked up tighter than a nun's cunt with antivirus, firewall, blocked sites, all other kinds of voodoo....at least once every other week I log on and get an immediate Microsoft or Kaspersky notification that a fucking trojan has been removed. And it isn't just me, several people here at work have commented on how their work PC seems to attract shit as well. What the fuck is going on that causes corporate PCs to get the tech hiv all the damn time?

                  • Usually a boss who has access to shit they've blocked on the average users pc is getting shit on the network through their PC's. At least that was the story at my last job. Office manager could bypass everything which he might as well have had it turned off since he was looking at porn and everything else.

                      • Figures. Not many websites are blocked here at work, and I know people have been caught watching smut. I just find it weird that nobody else I work with has this issue (or just don't realize the issue).

                        • Anyone ever restore from a system image? I'm making one now with the hope that I can build my new pc and just transfer everything on my 1TB hdd to my new 2TB hdd without issue. Tips on doing so? Especially if I can do it without running a Win 7 OS install before transferring?
