I stopped most of my collecting about 4 years ago. Most of my "collecting" is made up of books/TPBs/games and some movies. I barely buy DVD/BD at all anymore, since $30 for a new release BD is madness.

My philosophy on DVD's is that unless I plan on watching it multiple times - don't buy it. Don't have the room and should spend the money on other stuff.

DVDs got to the point of being so cheap that I would snag them in $5 and under sales without thinking about it, and when new releases that I knew I liked were coming out for $15 at Amazon or Best Buy I didn't mind buying them. Now that I am trying to buy BD instead the prices just don't compete, so unless it's a classic that I know I will want to watch many times I won't buy it. But if BD got down to the $15 new release price I would likely buy more. I'm hoping to build a decent media server for my house so I can just rip all my DVD/BD and stream to my PS3/360 so I can just box up the physical copies for backup.
