Yeah, I read the director even wanted to dedicate the movie to Kirby, but the producers said no.

      • Date Night

Did not expect to make it past the first 10 minutes, so the fact that I made it all the way through - and enjoyed it - speaks volumes about how much better this was than it's reputation and advertising suggested. Excellent supporting cast and the requisite number of actual laughs is enough for me, but it would be nothing without Carell and Fey on form and clearly riffing off one another. Carell can do no wrong in my book - when he's on, I don't think there's a popular American comedy actor that can touch him.
I experienced an invasion of my mind by a transcendentally rational mind, as if I had been insane all my life and suddenly I had become sane.

          • That car chase was superior to 90% of the car chases that you'll find in legit action movies. Not sure what it was doing in DATE NIGHT but I sure dug it.

For everytime I'll see The Cell, or Immortals, and think Tarsem Singh is overrated and only a visual genius, I'll just remember this movie and know he created one hell of a criminally underrated movie I've ever seen. Gorgeous (it's Singh, duh), but also deceptively simple yet effective and touching.

Love it. On Bluray, it's just epic.

                  • Bill and Ted Excellent Adventure

If you're looking at movies that defined me as a person, you'll find, along notable movies such as Big Trouble in Little China, The Thing, Blade Runner, Bloodsport, Die Hard and Commando, well, Bill and Ted Excellent Adventure.

Back then, my mom and sister went to see a concert, so my dad rented this movie that just came out on VHS. And we both had a blast, a good father/son bonding time. What's great now is that it just add to this great little movie. It's a very stupid movie, but it's so well-intentioned, and what flaws it has is waaaaaay compensated by the fun it generates. The sentimental value just adds more to it for me, that's all. A most excellent pleasure. And it spawned one of the coolest and original sequel ever.

And it has George Carlin, and Al Leong as Genghis Khan. How can one hates?

                          • 90% of why BOGUS JOURNEY works can be attributed to William Sadler's Grim Reaper character. That character, as conceptualized and realized on the screen by Sadler, transcends cinema and becomes legitimate art.
