Six. And that was for the first one only. Maybe twice each for the rest of the trilogy. Once each for the prequels.

I mentioned elsewhere that when I was a kid, I had about three cinemas within walking/driving distance, so multiple viewings of films were somewhat di regueur.

I'll have a good think about a more representative list of films. However, since we're talking Star Wars, the film I've probably seen most theatrically is The Phantom Menace. My brother and I fly to New York early to see it, just like Simon Pegg (if I'd had more than two seconds when I met him, I totally would've used this as an ice-breaker.) We weren't for waiting those extra months.

There were definitely 3 times in New York, in as many days. Maybe one or two more. None of which I would've paid for (I was 12.) I missed my end of year school exams to do it... much to my surprise/relief, they still put me in the top class the next year! That's not a joke about the film's quality, by the way. I loved it, at the time.

Independence Day was a big one for me, too, that summer. Can't remember how many times exactly, but it had to be close to Phantom Menace. Those were on parents/relatives/etc's dimes, too.

Funny you should mention that, my dad was a projectionist in the mid to late 70s. He never did talk about working when Star Wars released. He did tell me about the mass looting during the 1977 NYC Blackout.

ask him about the STAR WARS fever, Ed. I'm sure he has some good stories to share.

I have no doubt he has great projectionist stories. The man even worked in the seedy porno theaters of 42nd street. But he never talks about them.

He also mentioned working in the post office on the day of the bank robbery that Dog Day Afternoon is based on and hearing about it on the radio.

Its a fairly recent thing for me. I don't remember seeing hardly any films more than once in the cinema before 10 years ago.

              Titanic x2
              Each LOTR film 3 times.
              Minority Report x2
              Revenge of the Sith x2
              Spiderman 2 x2
Transformers x2 (I didn't even like it that much the first time, but I walked out on my girl one friday morning and needed to kill some time before my sister, who was taking me in, finished work so I went to see it again)
              The Dark Knight x2
              Watchmen x2
              Basterds x2
              Avatar x2

I still intend on seeing Inception once more before it ends its run. I may have forgotten some others...

Other than LOTR, I never saw movies multiple times in the theater. Have I gotten to the movie theater at 10 in the morning and closed the theater, seeing every movie that was playing? Yes.

Fuck the only movies I remember more than once were Last Crusade, all the LOTR, and the New Hope re-release. I don't remember what movie I even saw last.

                    Now I've never done that.

The only time I ever saw one movie and then snuck in to see another movie was back in '96 when the AC unit was broken at our hours. That's how I watched Kingpin and Phenomenon.

Ed, I'd really love to hear your dad's stories! You should ask him for us.

I've seen a ton of films multiple times in theaters, but I can't remember what and how many.

But I do remember that I saw The Phantom Menace 10 times. Ugh, I feel dirty.

I think 'Titanic' was the only movie I've seen multiple times in the theater. Saw it 3 times but I think I only paid twice(friend who worked there got us in the other time). I've kept all my ticket stubs since I was in 8th grade, so I'll have to go back and check on this...

Ooooo, do tell! Seriously. How did you manage that? Didn't you get sick of theater food?

Not at all. We usually did it on a rainy day (and it helped that I had friends at the theater) so what else was there to do on a rainy day? All day moviethon seemed like the best thing to do, so we did. Made sure we had enough cash for food and vidja games (and we always got the super big popcorn bucket and drink cup so we could get free refills). I should have gotten fat. The last time I did that was back for Independence Day and I can't even recall the other movies we saw that day.
