I dunno. I thought it was a pretty dramatic scenario. I mean, they were looking to put the Karate Kid in the chair.

I think A Time to Kill is excellent.

And JFK is probably my favourite courtroom film, reality be damned. The trial is a 40-minute setpiece on that sucker and Stone shoots and edits the shit out of it.
I experienced an invasion of my mind by a transcendentally rational mind, as if I had been insane all my life and suddenly I had become sane.

NOW this thread is back on track!

            And if we're counting documentaries:

Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills
Waco: The Rules of Engagement (not a straight ahead trial thriller, but it does have Congressional hearings that are just amazing to watch).
I have to try and see these - I love courtroom documentaries, too!

YES! The grits defense is my favorite part of the movie. Well, second to Herman Munster.

There are shitloads of character actors in there.

And every single one of them is great.

Vinny would make a hell of a trial lawyer. If only the Quintessential Gambini had defended the Quintessential Norton.

But it's not a great courtroom drama. It's a silly comedy that's set in a courtroom, but that's about it.

It has many of the elements of the courtroom drama genre in it. Whether it subverts or conforms to them is not on trial here.

I petition its inclusion and that Lisa be branded crazy for not liking what I like.

I vote to include it for the following reasons: it passed a real lawyer's seal of approval for veracity, and it displays a case that would be viable in a legit thriller.
