      * YES

      * I've got almost EVERY iteration of the films on VHS tape as well. I even have a sealed boxed set of the last VHS release in letterbox format from 10 years ago.

        I'd be VERY surprised if the original theatrical versions were included. Lucas seems to view those with the same amount of love that he shows the Star Wars Christmas Special.

          As much as I loathe the prequel trilogy, I'd have to think that they'd look gorgeous on blu-ray.

            VHS from ten years ago? Those were the tapes that came in the gold box, right?

                I've got the silver box, too. Been awhile since I looked at it, but I think that meant it was widescreen.

                  There's no way the original trilogy will come out on BD without further buttfuckery. Happy to own both versions of the original trilogy on DVD.

                    Still can't believe I remember holding the laserdisc versions of the original movies.

                      Yep. Gold was pan/scan, Silver was letterbox. Sold a TON of these when I worked at Suncoast Video back in the day...

                          I ended up recording the letterboxed versions off of laserdisc (a friend had them) in order to finally get proper copies. I was thrilled with the letterboxed versions finally came out on VHS.

                              I've only got the last two prequel films on DVD, and never bothered getting the rest of the films in that format, as they're usually on TV in widescreen a few times each year anyway. Same stuff's been holding me back from getting the Bond and Godfather films as well.
