  • Multiple Times in the Theater

What films have you seen more than once in the theater? Distinguish whether or not you paid for all of the viewings as well.

For me, I can think of the following:
    - 'Star Wars': approximately 14 times in the theater between 1977 and 1980. I never paid for any of these.
    - 'The Empire Strikes Back': approximately 3 times in the theater. I never paid for any of these.
    - 'Return of the Jedi': twice. I never paid.
    - 'Superman': twice. I never paid.
    - 'Tron': twice, and I paid for one of them.
    - 'Star Treks 1-5': twice, once upon their release, and once right before ST6 came out as part of an all day marathon. I paid for the second batch.
    - 'Raiders of the Lost Ark': twice, and I never paid
    - 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade': twice, and I paid each time.
    - 'Aliens': maybe 5 times in the theater. I paid for every time.
    - 'Predator': twice, and I paid for every viewing
    - 'Cliffhanger': twice, and I paid each time.
    - 'The Naked Gun': 4 times, and I paid each time.
    - 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day': 3 times, and I paid each time.
    - 'Braveheart': 3 times, and I paid each time
    - 'Titanic': twice, and I paid each time
    - 'The Matrix': twice, and I paid each time
    - 'Pulp Fiction': twice, and I paid each time
    - 'Gladiator': three times, and I paid each time.
    - 'Black Hawk Down': twice, and I paid each time.
    - 'LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring': twice, and I paid each time.
    - 'Inglourious Basterds': twice, and I paid each time.
    - 'Avatar': twice, and I paide each time.

    I'm missing a few, I'm sure.

I actually did this shit when I was young. Sadly, the compulsion just isn't there these days.

Star Wars rereleases: at least 15 times that summer.
ID4: least 3 times including the midnight screening
        The Matrix: twice
        Robocop: four times
        Robocop 2: four times
        Batman: five maybe six times
        T2: four times
        True Lies: twice
Last Action Hero: twice (Schwarzenegger was God)
        Goldeneye: three times
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: four times (this and Batman were my 89 summer)
        MiB: three times
LOTR: Fellowship twice, Towers three times (Helm's Deep was my jam)
        Gross Pointe Blank: three times
        Braveheart: twice
        Royal Tenenbaums: twice
        Blade: twice
        Blade 2: twice
        Maverick: twice
        The Professional: three times
        Kill Bill 1: three times
        Kill Bill 2: twice
Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey: three times
        Speed: three times

I think LOTR was the last time I was really committed to seeing shit more than once. Wait, no. Inglourious did it last year. Saw that twice. Loved it even more the second time.

            My mom was the shit.

(Though two of those times were added to Midnight Movies at the Inwood). Robocop 2 was legit little kid viewing.

Forgot allllllllllll about TMNT: at least four times. Same with Three Ninjas.

If Russ was born in '85, what in the hell was a two year old doing seeing Robocop 4 times?

And the earlier Proyas movies, Dark City and The Crow. I know I saw those at least twice each in the theater.

I think ma was more disturbed by The Crow than anything else. Dunno why. Just a clown shootin' people and shit.

                    It was probably Michael Wincott.

Well, if she wanted to see it. That makes sense. How in the fuck would a three year old ask to see a movie?

I remember that movie and Ghostbusters as my christening. Though GB was strictly home video. We must have bought that movie at least three separate times from wear and tear.

You remember Ghostbusters while being less than a year old? Bull-shit.

Earliest memory I have is at around age 4 and that's because of seeing the date on the wall.

I wouldn't remember anything at one. Except maybe the Sesame Street toys I ate.
