  • Capcom sued over "Dead Rising".

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080226/...dia_zombies_dc

I love the fact that this is the basis for the lawsuit:

"Both works are dark comedies," the complaint filed in U.S. District Court in New York on Monday reads. "In both, the recreational activities of the zombies and absurdly grotesque 'kill scenes' provide unexpected comedic relief."

"Both works provided thoughtful social commentary on the 'mall culture' zeitgeist, in addition to serving up a sizable portion of sensationalistic violence," it said.

Fucking rediculous. It states right on the package that the game is not affialiated in any way with DOTD and really, it's zombies in a mall. That's about the only similiar thing between the two. Otherwise I'm pretty sure the zombies in Romero's flicks have nothing to do with genetically modified bees. Yep, zombie bees. ZOMBIE BEES! That's the awesomeness that is Dead Rising.

Wow, does this shit piss me off. The game is like 2 years old now, right? What the fuck? How about the producers of The Blob sue the makers of A Boy and His Blob. I mean, they both have blobs, right? Uh-oh, didn't a few Resident Evil games take place underground? That's just like Day of the Dead! And one Resident Evil game had a huge shark, like Jaws! And there was a character names Claire! Claire Danes should totally sue! Fuck these retards.

Exactly my point. You can't copyright an idea like "Zombies in a mall". It's a frivolous lawsuit. What I thought was wierd was that in the article it says the game is no longer being produced. I'm thinking I may just hold on to mine for the future.

I'm thinking I just may want to pick the game up now. It was fun, but got kinda redundant. I always hoped they would make a sequel.

The sequel is being made by the team who made "The Bigs" I believe. If they can fix the save points, the aiming system, the guns, the stupid survivors AI, and Otis, then I'll pick it up. Or maybe just have a mode where you can just kill zombies all day without having to go through the tedious single player game. I beat the first one but it was a fucking chore to do so.

Correct. The group that owns the rights to the original DOTD is suing Capcom....2 years after the game has been out. Redonkulous.
